Flashback: Thanksgiving 2006

Rachel tagged me. What you're supposed to do is go go your fourth picture folder and post the fourth picture and tell us about it. My pictures are not organized in a very logical order so this is Thanksgiving 2006. It was also Russell's birthday. The people in it are My cousin Christina, my cousin Ben, Russ and Jonathan. I'm not sure who is cut off on the left side. Since I'm posting about Thanksgiving 2006, I'll also show you a picture of Russell's birthday cake. Oops. He might not be thrilled that I'm telling you all how old he is.
Now I tag everyone who reads this.

My new best friend

I made myself a new friend tonight. A little background first, in the ongoing saga of my arm. I went to see the Physical Therapist yesterday and she tortured I mean massaged my arm and electrocuted it with some machine. Once I was ready to just cut the arm off, she sent me home and told me to ice it. Seriously, I know there is a good reason for what she did and it is supposed to help in the long run, but it hurt.

Fast forward to today... I was in a crafty mood and decided to make myself something cute to ice my arm, instead of the bag of peas I have been using. So I went to Wally World (I know. We hate them, but we can't live without them.) and bought some fabric remnants and rice. Then I sewed (yes I sewed) myself a bag of rice. Now, as you can see in the picture, I am not a talented seamstress. I can't even sew a straight line and I broke 3 needles in the process, but it is functional. After only a few hours in the freezer I put it to the test and it felt so good on my poor tortured arm.

Fired

A month or so ago when I had just found out I was being released from Primary, I tried to prepare Jonathan for my absence. I explained that I wouldn't be playing the piano in Primary anymore because they were giving someone else a turn. His response: "Did you get fired?"
So glad he has confidence in his mother.

About that tree stump...

So, I finally got around to asking my neighbor why they cut down their tree. (Remember? The stump Jonathan tried to fly over?) Turns out that after a particularly bad thunderstorm the tree ended up split and it appeared that the tree may have been hit by lightning. Jonathan's school was recently hit by lightning (over the weekend, fortunately) so it is totally possible that this tree was also. Crazy!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I saw this on the Today show this morning. There is a doctor partnering with Avon to form a group of women without cancer who are willing to participate in Breast Cancer research. I think they are trying to get over a million women to sign up. Here's the link if you want to know more.

A moment of silence, please...

for the loss of my voice. I've learned today that it is very hard to yell in a whisper and kids think it's very funny when mom loses her voice. And if you tried to call me today and I didn't answer it is because Russ wasn't around to speak for me. So, if you need to talk to me, you'll have to leave a message with my new secretary. It's only fitting since I've been his secretary for the last 10 years.

Since I'm being so supportive of the school...

I thought I'd mention the Box Tops Marketplace. I never realized how many online stores I use that will donate to your school when you shop there. Places like Disney Shopping, Barnes & Noble, Gap, FTD.com and Proflowers. Southwest Airlines is on there! And I just spent a LOT of money with them before I knew about this. Walmart is on there too, but they only donate 1/2 a percent of what you spend. Cheapskates! Anyway, go find out for yourself and earn some money for your school.
