An old favorite

I was going through old pictures today and I thought I'd share a video of Pie from about 2 years ago. If you know Pie, you know she loves tennis balls. She will go to great lengths to obtain tennis balls, and she did eventually get the ball out of the can. We think she'd make a great drug sniffing dog, as long as the drugs smelled like tennis balls.

Dance Festival

Jonathan's school does a dance festival at the end of the year. The Kindergarten did the Charleston. Aren't they adorable? I would have gotten more pictures, but the camera started doing funky things. You'll see what I mean at the end of the video. I'm glad the camera waited until after the kindergarten to wig out, but I would have liked to get pictures of the other dances. They were all great.

Memorial Day Fun

Despite the rain, we still had a pretty good Memorial Day. Christina took Jonathan swimming (indoor pool) and out for ice cream. Then we had a family barbeque (indoors of course). Jonathan and Nic played pirates and hunted for treasure in Great Grandma's house.

Karate Tournament

Jonathan's Karate tournament was tonight. And thanks to my compulsive need to be on time for everything we were 10 minutes early. Then all the other kids were late. So we waited... and waited.

Finally, 40 minutes later, they got the show on the road. For some reason, Jonathan was matched with all bigger and older kids who had more experience. I was so proud of him for hanging in there. He fought much better than I've ever seen him fight in practice. I guess he needed a challenge. He didn't win any of his matches, but everyone got a trophy and a medal so Jonathan left happy. What a couple of hams! Check out those shorts and snow boots on Jonathan. It's sure to be the big new thing for 6 year olds this summer.

The ants go marching one by one

right into my house. Yeah, I just found a whole line of them heading from the back door into my family room. Yuck! Obviously it's time to bomb ANTganistan again. Well, off to the store for some poison.

We got a Wii!!!

Yep, we saw it at Costco and I totally caved. We got a great deal though. If you're looking for a Wii, I highly recommend Costco. You get lots of extras.

My Mother's Day present

For Mother's Day, Jonathan made me a card and a book about our family. I couldn't scan all the pages so I just scanned my favorites from the card and the book.

Look, I grew! 20 feet! Wow I'm tall! And for the record, I am 29.

This next picture is the first page in Jonathan's book. This page is about me and the things we like to do together. I just love my little guy. He's so sweet.

Start Cola Earlier

I just thought I'd share this ad I found online. So if you want your babies to be popular in high school, pour a little Coke in their bottles.

Since the text is tiny, I'll tell you what it says.

How soon is too soon? Not soon enough. Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and fitting in during those awkward pre-teen and teen years. So do yourself a favor. Do your child a favor. Start them on a strict regimen of sodas and other sugary carbonated beverages right now, for a lifetime of guaranteed happiness.

Updates on all of us

I thought it would be a good idea to update you all on what we've been up to.

Russ and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary this year. I couldn't even find a current picture of either of us. Russ is still working at Primary Childrens. I believe it's been 10 years either this month or last. He still likes working nights, and if you ask Jonathan what his dad does he'll tell you that Russ plays with pee and blood. Russ is currently without a calling at church. I'm not sure how he has managed this. I think he may have some dirt on the bishop. (just kidding)

I am still working at the Lehi Legacy Center daycare. I work just a couple days a week to get my baby fix. I also get a free membership out of it so we can go swimming and use the gym. I also volunteered at Jonathan's school most of the year and plan to do so again next year. As for church, I am still one of the organists and the primary pianist. I also play for the choir, but that's not an "official" calling. For the most part I have the cushiest callings in the church. No lessons to prepare, no responsibility for children.

Jonathan is finishing up kindergarten. He is trying hard to lose his first tooth before school gets out at the end of this month. Our district recently tested all the kindergartners' reading skills and Jonathan tested at the highest level. Although he is an excellent reader, his favorite subject is recess. We call him the General because he leads the kindergarten in war games at recess. Jonathan started Karate this year and is really enjoying it. He played basketball earlier this year, which he didn't like too much and he's going to try soccer later this summer.

Pie and Dollie are 9 years old this year. I can't believe it has been that long. They're still chasing tennis balls enthusiastically. And still fighting over them.

Rhinos and Peacocks and Apes, oh my!

On Friday all the kindergarten classes at Jonathan's school went to the Hogle Zoo.

These are the four kiddos I was responsible for. When I first decided to go on the trip I told Jonathan that (if his teacher let them choose) to just pick 3 of his friends to be in our group. Fortunately, the teachers (in their infinite wisdom) chose the groups themselves and my sanity was spared. What was I thinking?! Yeah Jonathan, just choose any 3 of your rowdy boy buddies for me to chase all over the zoo. Thank goodness the teachers are smarter than me. I had two lovely, sweet girls who stayed next to me the whole time. Jonathan and the other boy were surprisingly well behaved, but I wonder if that would have been the case if the other boy had been one of his regular partners in crime.
